About us

LUMOR is an acclaimed Stockholm based performing arts company recognized as one of Sweden's most interesting producers of new drama and contemporary theatre.

Founded and managed by playwright/director Paula Stenström Öhman and actor/director/playwright Oskar Thunberg, LUMOR works recurrently with a core group of renowned performing artists; actors, writers, directors, set designers, composers, sound and lightning designers - who has found each other artistically in LUMOR's productions and has developed an aesthetic and rapport that is unique within the Swedish performing arts society. "Lumor goes from strength to strength with performances in the borderland of social realism and dream. Dark topics are explored with an entertaining twist by direction breathing life into cold reality and brilliant actors." / The Swedish Association of Theatre Critic's Award

LUMOR mainly produces new writings, often based on documentary material, sprung from its own method. LUMOR collaborates with a wide network of esteemed theaters all over Sweden with recurring partners as The Stockholm City Theatre and The City Arts Centre and The Royal Dramatic Theatre. Several of LUMOR'S productions are available for guest performances and tours, nationally and internationally. (See below which productions are available right now!).

Paula Stenström Öhman has been awarded multiple times, including The City of Stockholm's Culture prize, The Writers Guild of Sweden's Henning Mankell playwright award, The Swedish Ibsen award and The Royal Dramatic Theatre and Daniel Sash's playwright prize. Oskar Thunberg has been awarded Carl Åkermark's Performing Arts Scholarship by the Swedish Academy and his play Oxytocin got The Swedish Association of Theatre Critic's Children & Youth award 2023. LUMOR received Kurt Nylander's Performing Arts Scholarship 2019 and The Swedish Association of Theatre Critics Theatre award in 2021. LUMOR's productions were selected to Swedstage 2015 and 2018, The Swedish ITI's New Nordic Drama 2016 and The National Swedish Biennale for Performing Arts 2015, 2017, 2019, 2022.
